Located in the vibrant Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, this boutique hotel seamlessly blends industrial and vintage design elements. Paying homage to the building’s history as a seminary, the interior features exposed brick walls, reclaimed wood accents, and mid-century modern furniture.

Initial Conceptualization and Planning

The transformation of this historic seminary into a boutique hotel began with a thorough conceptualization phase. Initial feasibility studies, market analysis, and stakeholder discussions helped define the vision and goals for the project. Architectural and interior design teams were engaged to develop a design that preserved the building’s original architectural features while integrating modern amenities and contemporary design elements.

Construction and Renovation

With the design finalized and permits obtained, the construction and renovation phase commenced. This involved structural upgrades, interior remodeling, and the installation of new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Exterior improvements were also undertaken to enhance the building’s curb appeal.

Selecting furniture, fixtures, and equipment was crucial to achieving the desired ambiance. This included choosing furnishings, lighting, artwork, linens, and decorative elements that complemented the hotel's aesthetic. Concurrently, efforts to develop the hotel's brand identity and marketing strategy were underway. Crafting a distinctive brand image, developing marketing materials, and creating a promotional campaign were essential steps to generate awareness and attract guests.

Post-Opening Operations

Following the grand opening, the focus shifted to the hotel’s ongoing operations and management. This included guest services, marketing and promotions, maintenance, and continuous efforts to enhance the guest experience and drive business success.

Modern Urban Apartment Interior Design

This project centers on the interior design of a modern urban apartment located in a newly constructed high-rise in the heart of a bustling city. With stunning city views and a vibrant neighborhood, the primary objective is to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable living space that reflects contemporary urban living. The design concept marries modern minimalism with urban sophistication.

Modern Minimalism

Characterized by clean lines, neutral color palettes, and a focus on functionality, modern minimalism aims to create a calm and uncluttered environment that maximizes space and light, making the apartment feel open and airy.

Urban Sophistication

To add sophistication, the design incorporates urban elements such as industrial lighting, exposed concrete finishes, and contemporary artwork. This blend of minimalism and urban chic creates a stylish and comfortable living environment that is both trendy and timeless.

Detailed Area Descriptions

Living Room:

  • Layout and Furniture: An L-shaped sectional sofa in a soft, neutral fabric is positioned to take advantage of floor-to-ceiling windows offering city views. A sleek, low-profile coffee table in dark wood anchors the seating area, while modern armchairs provide additional seating.

  • Color Scheme: Neutral tones with deep blue and charcoal gray accents. Light, warm gray walls create a serene backdrop, with furniture and accessories adding depth and interest.

  • Decor and Accessories: A large abstract painting in shades of blue and gray serves as a focal point above the sofa. The room is accessorized with textured throw pillows, a cozy wool rug, and sleek metal and glass side tables. An industrial-design floor lamp provides ambient lighting, complemented by recessed ceiling lights.

Kitchen:

  • Layout and Appliances: A U-shaped layout with ample counter space and storage. Custom-built matte white cabinetry with minimalist handles maintains a clean, streamlined look. High-end stainless steel appliances are seamlessly integrated.

  • Countertops and Backsplash: Light gray quartz countertops and white glossy subway tile backsplash add a touch of elegance.

  • Lighting and Fixtures: Under-cabinet LED lighting ensures a well-lit workspace. Pendant lights with black metal shades above the breakfast bar add an industrial touch. A sleek, single-handle faucet and deep undermount sink in stainless steel complete the modern aesthetic.

Dining Area:

  • Layout and Furniture: A rectangular dining table made of reclaimed wood adds warmth and character. Six dining chairs with dark gray upholstered seats provide comfortable seating. The table's positioning allows easy movement while maintaining a close connection to the kitchen.

  • Color Scheme and Decor: Neutral palette with natural materials. A statement pendant light with an open geometric design hangs above the table. Black-and-white urban landscape photographs adorn the walls, adding a personal and artistic touch.

Master Bedroom:

  • Layout and Furniture: Designed as a tranquil retreat with a king-sized bed featuring a low-profile, upholstered headboard in soft gray fabric. Matching minimalist nightstands with modern table lamps flank the bed. A large dresser with ample storage and a full-length mirror complete the furnishings.

  • Color Scheme and Textiles: Soft grays, whites, and touches of blue. Light gray walls and high-quality linens in shades of white and blue. A plush area rug with a subtle pattern adds warmth, while heavy deep blue blackout curtains ensure restful sleep.

  • Decor and Accessories: Abstract prints in calming colors above the bed. Decorative pillows, a cozy throw blanket, and select personal decor items like a stylish jewelry box and a small indoor plant add finishing touches.

By incorporating these design principles and elements, both the boutique hotel in Manhattan and the modern urban apartment achieve a blend of historical charm and contemporary elegance, creating inviting and functional spaces that cater to modern lifestyles.
