This boutique hotel located in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood features a unique blend of industrial and vintage design elements. The interior design pays homage to the building's history as a seminary, with exposed brick walls, reclaimed wood accents, and mid-century modern furniture.

Initial Conceptualization and Planning

The project likely began with the conceptualization of transforming the historic building into a boutique hotel. This involved initial feasibility studies, market analysis, and discussions with stakeholders to determine the vision and goals for the project. The architectural and interior design teams were enlisted to develop the overall look and feel of the hotel. Given the building's history as a seminary, the design likely aimed to preserve and celebrate its original architectural features while incorporating modern amenities and design elements.

Construction and Renovation

Once planning and design were finalized and permits were obtained, construction and renovation work began. This phase involved a range of activities, including structural upgrades, interior remodeling, installation of new systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), and exterior improvements. The selection and procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment were integral to creating the desired ambiance and guest experience. This included selecting furnishings, lighting, artwork, linens, and other decorative elements that complemented the hotel's design aesthetic. Concurrent with the physical development of the hotel, efforts were likely made to develop the hotel's brand identity and marketing strategy. This included crafting a distinctive brand image, developing marketing materials, and creating a promotional campaign to generate awareness and attract guests. Following the grand opening, the focus shifted to ongoing operations and management of the hotel. This included guest services, marketing and promotions, maintenance and upkeep, and continuous efforts to enhance the guest experience and drive business success.

Construction and Renovation

This project involves the interior design of a modern urban apartment located in the heart of a bustling city. The apartment is situated in a newly constructed high-rise building that boasts stunning city views and a vibrant neighborhood. The primary objective of this interior design project is to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable living space that reflects the contemporary lifestyle of the occupants. The design concept revolves around modern minimalism with a touch of urban sophistication.

Modern Minimalism

The design concept is centered around modern minimalism, characterized by clean lines, neutral color palettes, and a focus on functionality. This style is chosen to create a calm and uncluttered environment that maximizes space and light, making the apartment feel more open and airy.

Urban Sophistication

To add a layer of sophistication, the design incorporates urban elements such as industrial lighting, exposed concrete finishes, and contemporary artwork. This blend of minimalism and urban chic creates a stylish and comfortable living environment that is both trendy and timeless.

Detailed Area Descriptions

Layout and Furniture: The living room is designed to be the heart of the apartment, serving as a space for relaxation and socializing. The layout features an L-shaped sectional sofa upholstered in a soft, neutral fabric, positioned to take advantage of the city views through floor-to-ceiling windows. A sleek, low-profile coffee table in a dark wood finish anchors the seating area, while a pair of modern armchairs adds additional seating.

Color Scheme: The color scheme for the living room is a mix of neutral tones with accents of deep blue and charcoal gray. The walls are painted in a light, warm gray to create a serene backdrop, while the furniture and accessories add depth and interest.
Decor and Accessories: A large, abstract painting in shades of blue and gray serves as the focal point above the sofa. The room is accessorized with a mix of textured throw pillows, a cozy wool rug, and sleek metal and glass side tables. A floor lamp with an industrial design provides ambient lighting, while a series of recessed ceiling lights offer additional illumination
Layout and Appliances: The kitchen is designed for both functionality and style. It features a U-shaped layout with ample counter space and storage. The cabinetry is custom-built with a matte white finish and minimalist handles to maintain a clean and streamlined look. High-end stainless steel appliances, including a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher, are seamlessly integrated into the design.

Countertops and Backsplash: Quartz countertops in a light gray color provide a durable and elegant surface for food preparation. The backsplash is made of white subway tiles with a glossy finish, adding a touch of classic sophistication to the modern design.
Lighting and Fixtures: Under-cabinet LED lighting ensures the workspace is well-lit, while pendant lights with black metal shades hang above the breakfast bar, adding an industrial touch. A sleek, single-handle faucet and a deep, undermount sink in stainless steel complete the kitchen’s modern aesthetic.
Layout and Furniture: The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and features a rectangular dining table made of reclaimed wood, adding warmth and character to the space. Six dining chairs with upholstered seats in a dark gray fabric provide comfortable seating. The table is positioned to allow for easy movement around the area while maintaining a close connection to the kitchen.

Color Scheme and Decor: The dining area continues the apartment’s neutral color palette, with an emphasis on natural materials. A large, statement pendant light with an open geometric design hangs above the table, creating a visual focal point. The walls are adorned with a series of black-and-white photographs of urban landscapes, adding a personal and artistic touch.
